LAKANA has successfully completed the participant enrolment phase !

After two years of activities and sustained efforts throughout these past challenging times, the LAKANA research team, consisting of researchers from CVD-Mali, TroDa, UCL, and TAU, is proud to announce that enrolment of new villages to the study has been completed. Over 1100 villages have been recruited to LAKANA and more than 35 000 infants have received their first round of treatment as of January 2023.

We greatly acknowledge the work and dedication of all study staff at all participating sites without whom achieving this major milestone wouldn’t have been possible. We thank all the leaders and community members in Mali for their trust and participation in LAKANA! 

LAKANA trial started in October 2020, the follow-up period is on, and the study is expected to be ending in late 2024.
